How to use the Creswick Craft Needle Felting Tool

What used to take days to make with a single needle felting tool can now be done in minutes!
The Creswick Craft Needle Felting Tool contains five finely barbed needles attached to a spring action, with a safety on/off option. Replacement needles are available and are easy to install.

• To start working with the tool place the fabric to be felted over the felting brush, fabric right side upwards.

• Lay out the fibres to be felted onto this base fabric and start using the felting tool. Do this by holding the handle
firmly and, with the tool unlocked, ‘bounce’ the needle felting tool over the fibres. Felting takes place when the
needles penetrate through all fibre layers into the brush and out again. The needle’s tiny barbs push and pull
the fibre layers together as the needles quickly go through the fibre layers, and out again.

• The more you use the tool, the more your fibres are felted together. We strongly suggest you first felt on the right
side, flip over the fabric and re-felt the fibres, then flip to the right side and felt again. This process will embed
the fibres together.

• Layers of wool fibres and fabrics can be felted together. Embellishing with Creswick Dyed Fleece to appliqué,
Cornelli work with Creswick Cornelli Yarn and felted patchwork using Creswick Alpaca Strips are just some of
the creative possibilities using the felting tool.

• Wool fibre and fabric can be felted onto finely woven cotton or silk fabric, but some minor damage will occur to
the woven fibres as the barbed needles penetrate the fabric. While this is a technique full of creative possibilities,
and the slight amount of damage to the woven non-wool fabric will not affect any decorative purpose, be aware
that felting wool and woven non-wool fabrics together will not give a secure bond.
